Seismic Strengthening

Seismic Strengthening

Seismic strengthening is as critical a responsibility as building new: most of the existing building stock predates today’s seismic code. The process begins with a performance analysis and structural assessment carried out by an accredited firm.

Depending on the assessment, solutions such as added shear walls, jacketing, column-beam reinforcement, or overall structural system strengthening are applied. We plan the work to avoid vacating the building wherever possible — and say so plainly when the building’s condition requires otherwise.

Scope

  • Performance analysis and structural assessment

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to vacate the building during strengthening?

How long does strengthening take?

It varies with building size and method — typically a few weeks to a few months for an average residential building.
